Neccos

Hannah, do you want a Necco?
Airedale Hannah
What?  A Necco?!  Yes, please!  You know I love Neccos.

Sit and wait.  I want to take a photo of you with the package before I give you one, Hannah.
Airedale Hannah
You know I don't like photos, Mum, but okay, I'll sit.  But just for a second or two.

Oh, Hannah!  No grabbing.  You wait till I take the photo.
Airedale Hannah with Neccos
But, Mum, they're for me and you're taking too long!  And besides that I already said please.

I saw that sweet please, Hannah, and that's a perfect wait.  Now you can have a Necco.

I love, love, love Neccos.  I drool for Neccos and when my mum gives them to me I chew them.  Mum doesn't understand why I chew Neccos but not my food.  And she doesn't know why I like them but I'm glad she keeps giving them to me -- once in a while.

Does your mum give you treats you love and does she make you wait for them, too?

An Airedale at the Store

My mum doesn't do a great job with her camera in the store:  she keeps gettin' a shine.  But she found these treats with an Airedale on them.  She loves seein' Airedales at the store even if they are only on labels.

Can you believe she didn't bring me a bag?  She says I have a tender tummy and that I have to stick to foods we know my tummy can handle.  Oh, well.  At least I get to share the photos with you.

Happy Mum's Day, 2017

I love my mum the best of everyone I know.  I decided she was best the first night I came here a long time ago when she spent the night on the floor with me so I wouldn't be afraid.

My mum loves me, too.  Sometimes I make her laugh.  She says I'm the dearest Airedale she knows.

This photo was taken almost nine years ago when I was three.  I'm 11 years old now.  I have white eyebrows and my muzzle is turnin' white, too.  Sometimes Mum gets weepy because she knows Airedales don't live as long as their people.

I'm just gonna keep lovin' her, though, no matter how old I get.

Happy Mum's Day, Mum.  I love you.

Merry Christmas, Friends!

My mum and I wish you a Merry Christmas! We want to share a favorite Christmas video with you that wasn't on youtube last year but it is now.  It's called A Child's Christmas in Wales and is based on a story by Dylan Thomas.  We get to watch the adventures of a grandfather's childhood Christmases as he recounts them to his grandson.  They are full of adventure, food, family, friends, and fun.  And, maybe best of all, it has a scalawag of an Airedale in it, just like some of us are sometimes!

If you can't watch it now (because it's nearly an hour long), come back and watch or go to youtube to watch it.

We both know that Christmas is really about the birth of Jesus Christ and we're grateful for that.  We think some fun can be thrown into the celebration, too.  (After all, we are Airedales.  Or at least, I am!)

We hope you have a great day with lots of fun and joy.  Merry Christmas!

Airedales at the Thrift Store

My mum was at the thrift store last week and found a book with photos of us Airedales in it.  She didn't buy the book because it only had two pages of us but she took photos.  Aren't we adorable puppies?  We think it's wonderful they put us on the cover!
Even Airedale puppies know what's what and what they want -- and they go for it.  Airedales are ready for LIFE!

I hope you're having fun in your life.

The Airedale is Not Named Fats

My mum found this book with an Airedale in it.  In case you didn't know, she likes books with Airedales -- but she likes me in person lots better.

It's called Christina Katerina and Fats:  and the Great Neighbhood War by Patricia Lee Gauch and Stacey Schuett.  The Airedale doesn't play a big part in the book but he joins in the "fun."

My mum thought the drawings of the 'dale were cute and liked a few of the poses.  She just snapped several with her camera and is only posting the cover and this one:

Maybe you could get this book and read it to your human/'dale.  The people are a little rowdy and we 'dales like rowdy!  I was glad the Airedale was not named Fats but I don't think that's a nice name, not even a nickname, for anyone.  Do you?

Cow Eyes

My mum calls these cow eyes because of the way my eyes look.  She makes me look like this by puttin' food right in front of my face close to my nose so my eyes have to get close together and the whites show on the top and sides.  She says these photos make her laugh every time she sees them.  I don't know what's so funny about them....

I'm getting a clip tomorrow.  I love having that clipper go over my skin and fur.  It feels like a massage to me.  And I will be cooler, too.

Bye for now.

About Our Favorite Breed

I would like to meet Snowden.  I never rode on a chair lift or a snowmobile but I rode on a golf cart.  It was fun.  Maybe my mum will show you photos one of these days.

I hope you are happy and havin' fun.

A Gentleman from France: An Airedale Hero

My mum found this book about an Airedale on the internet.

She tried to find it at the library but they didn't have it.  She has to read it online or print it out to read it.  She didn't do either but she might.

She browsed through it and liked the photos.  Here are two.

He looks like he's having a great adventure, don't you think?  And I know from the drawing at the end of the book that the Airedale really is a hero, but I don't know why.  I hope my mum will read the book and then tell me the story.

I think all Airedales are heroes - sometimes for big reasons and sometimes for little ones.

Maybe you would like to read A Gentleman from France at Internet Archive.

My Nose

My mum thinks this is a great photograph of my nose.  She likes my nose because it is big and black and shiny.  She likes that I sneeze three times every morning.  My mum is sometimes strange.  But I like that she kisses me on the top of my muzzle behind my nose just before I eat every meal.  We love each other.

Meet Stanley

My mum found Stanley in a book called Make! by Cath Kidston.  Maybe he's not an Airedale but I'm an Airedale and he looks like me so I think he is.  (Except I'm black & tan, not brown & tan.)

In the book it shows you how to make him into a pillow -- well, er -- put him on a pillow.  I think he would be better on a bag and then he could travel with me and I could carry all my things in the bag.

It tells you where to find the template of Stanley.

There are two templates.  The first one is the one at the top of this post and the second one is like this:

Wouldn't three Stanleys be fun?  We could play and play -- if they were real.  But they might get their names confused.

Maybe my mum will make me a Stanley bag.

I hope you're having fun today!

Airedale Puppy on An Adventure

My mum found this cute little video of an Airedale puppy goin' on an adventure by herself.  You should watch it but you have to go to the link because my mum couldn't put the real video here on our blog.  Just click here -- right here where the print is a different color -- to see the video on MSN.

I think my mum should get me an Airedale puppy.  I would take her to my sister's farm where there are two goats and we would play and explore.  But we wouldn't need the goat to lead us home because I would do that.

That's all for now.  Bye.

My Nephew and Me

These are photos of my nephew and me.  He's 15 months old now and came to visit with his mom for a few days.  It was interesting having a boy my size around.  Well, he's a shorty so maybe I am still taller than him....

Here we are looking out the door together.  Mum forgot to put the flash on so she got these photos that're sort of shadowy.

Here I am looking out the door and Mali is petting me.  He was very gentle to me and I was pretty gentle to him, too.  Mum said I have to be very careful around him because he's a new walker.  He likes to hold little things and really liked my tags but my mum wouldn't let him have them.

My sister was afraid I'd be jealous of him but I wasn't.  I just made sure Mum didn't forget me and that I'm her best girl.

They are coming to visit again for Thanksgiving.  I'm looking forward to turkey then!  How about you?

Roger, the Census Airedale

Some of you may know that my mum is interested in family history.  She looks at old census records a lot trying to find her ancestors.  In case you didn't know, a census is a like counting off except you put your name and age and some other information.  They ask information like name, age, birthplace, occupation, whether married and number of children. It's only for people but Mr. Little, a man in England in 1911, decided he wanted to include his dog, Roger.  (You can click on the picture if you want to see it bigger.)

The people in the Little family are on lines 1-4.  Then, on line 9, Mr. Little wrote, "Incidentally, we have an Airedale Terrier.  I don't know whether particulars are required, but in case you want them here they are."

On line 11, he wrote Roger's information:
He was 5 years old and had more than 100 children.  His occupation was watchdog, he was self-employed, and he looked after the house both inside and outside.  He was born in Keighley, Yorkshire.

Isn't it perfect that he was born in Yorkshire because Airedales started in Yorkshire!

I wish my mum would put me on a census so people would know about me in 100 years.

I wonder if Roger looked anything like me.

Paper Airedale Blue

My mum goes nuts over paper Airedales.  She has a huge collection of 'em she keeps in a book.  I told her she should start posting her paper 'dales because I still don't like being in pictures (just sometimes I let her take one).

She found this one in Sunday's newspaper.  It was part of an advertisement for Pet Cancer Awareness.  She's sure that puppy is an Airedale.  I think it is, too, because we Airedales are the biggest terriers (we're the King of Terriers, or in my case, the Queen, you know) and that puppy is way bigger than that cat.

So maybe I'll persuade my mum to keep on posting her paper 'dales.  (As much as she loves her paper 'dales, she loves me lots, lots, lots more than them.)

I love my mum, too.  For Mother's Day I let her play with my favorite toy for two minutes.

Bye for now,
from Hannah
